CARTRIDGE MEDIA
The cartridge media of a pool filter cartridge is the pleated material that does the work of trapping dirt particles and micro organisms. AllPoolCartridges.com uses the best quality 100% spunbond polyester filter media, unlike other cheaper cartridges that use paper.
You will notice that some pool cartridges are offered in different weights or thicknesses. The thicker or heavier media has a better capacity to filter yet maintains the necessary water flow. This capacity to filter water is measured in microns. As an example table salt measures 90 microns and any particle under 35 microns is not visible with the human eye.

Standard Duty: 3 ounce filtration media is the most common in the pool and spa industry. It will filter down to about 30 - 40 microns.
Heavy Duty: 4 ounce 100% spunbond polyester will filter down to about 15-20 microns. This heavier material will provide you with slightly better water clarity than the standard 3 ounce media.
Anti-Microbial: This product is explained in details on the page “What is Microban Anti-microbial?” Basically anti-microbial technology is built into the product during the manufacturing process and becomes an un-separable part of the product. When microbes such as bacteria, mold, fungi, etc. reach the filter, the Microban attacks these microbes and disrupts the cell function so the microbe cannot function, grow or reproduce.

Traditional filter cartridges use a single filtration fabric. Pleatco’s proprietary Advanced Filtration System (AFS) uses two innovative filtration medias which will clean water to the highest level without reducing the life of the filter. The AFS outer fabric is an Antimicrobial Microban media made by REEMAY; the inner PleatcoPureTec media is unique to Pleatco and will capture particles smaller than the eye can see.
Pleatco’s DUAL CORE design is effective for several reasons.
The inner fabric doesn’t get clogged with larger particles because the outer material acts as a pre-filter. Additionally, Pleatco’s FREE FLOW CORES are engineered to maximize water flow.
