The DOs & DON'Ts to Prolonging Filter Life
|
• Always read and follow the manufacturer’s instructions for your pool filter.
• Establish a pool maintenance schedule to keep your pool water clean & healthy.
• Maintain proper water chemistry in your pool by following Cleaning Instructions when using Chlorine or Bromine or Cleaning Instructions when using Baquacil.
• Clean filter Cartridges with your water hose nozzle, an automatic spray cleaner, or Water Wand.
• Dissolve oils and grease and kill fungi with a quality chemical cleaner prior to water spraying the filter cartridge.
• Rotate your cartridges to allow the filter to thoroughly dry before installing. This allows fungi and molds to die for lack of moisture.
• Use a Filter Saver in the skimmer basket of your pool. This sock-like net fits any basket and traps the debris & tiny particles that would normally pass on to your filter. Filter Savers help protect the pump impeller from clogging and reduces the build up of debris on the filter cartridge. Filter Savers can be rinsed out and reuse many times before needing to be replaced.
|
|
• Do not allow excessive dirt & debris to build up on the filter cartridge. This will lead to a shortened life span of your filter cartridge.
• Never use a stiff brush to clean the filter media.
• Do not use a power washer to clean the filter media as this could weaken the fibers and cause punctures or tearing.
• Never use household bleach or acids to clean the filter elements.
• Do not allow the pressure in your pool filter to exceed 8 to 10 pounds over the normal operating pressure.
